Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has claimed that Kaizer Chiefs were more dangerous under Nasreddine Nabi last year than they are this season.
Amakhosi managed to take a point from Masandawana, just as they did against Orlando Pirates a couple of weeks ago, but Cardoso believes they are weaker under Nabi’s assistant coaches compared to last season.
“I think last year with coach Nabi, we saw a much more dangerous Kaizer Chiefs than we saw here this year,” said Cardoso.
“Last year, the two matches we played against Kaizer Chiefs — the one at Lucas Moripe Stadium and then the cup match here at Loftus Versfeld.”
Speaking about the team’s agility, the Masandawana coach believes Chiefs were more aggressive under Nabi, even though they failed to trouble a 10-man side.
“In transitions, Nabi’s team was more difficult to cope with than today’s team because today, I think we stayed in control.
“Even with 10 men, we stayed aggressive on the pitch, we took control of the game, and there was a lot of respect for us. So, I’m happy because of that.
“But last year, I think they were stronger in terms of the way they tried to counter-attack us,” Cardoso added.
