Tanzanian government denounces European parliament resolution

Tanzanian main political party that is in power, CCM, has highly criticize European parliament from discuss their internal and social affairs.

Some CCM MPs have highly criticizing European parliament, saying that they use Tundu Lissu’s trial to pass their own agenda about LGBTQI+ group.

Speaking about spike number of human rights breach in Tanzania about arrest of opposition politicians, abduction and disappearances of activists like Mdude and others, they answer by reminding international organisations that the country governed by constitution.

Their clap back is mainly focus on LGBTQI+ group, and not main resolution about human breach in Tundu Lissu’s trial, human rights activists like Mdude, election reforms and freedom of press.

Based with European parliament resolution, they call Tanzanian government to restore Chadema’s full participation in the October 2025 elections, engage in dialogue with all political parties on electoral reform, respect the political parties’ rights and guarantee free and fair elections.

The European Parliament also urges Tanzanian government to abolish the death penalty and commute all death sentences.

The resolution seems to annoy the current government, as MPs belong to government in power raise their voices to oppose it blindly, with only one thing which is lesser than the main objective of the discussion.
