Wydad AC has partied ways with Rhulani Mokwena following struggling to retain its form and lack of progress on important competitions.
Rhulani Mokwena found himself into hot water after taking Wydady AC job, the appointment came shortly after his partied ways with Mamelodi Sundown.
The club has released official statement about this decision on its social media, they appoint Amine Benhachem as interim coach till the end of season.
During his short-lived era from July 2024 up to April 2025, Mokwena won 14 matches, 14 draws and 7 defeats on his 35 matches.
Mokwena spoke last month about his commitment to the club despite of critics, he opened up about offers he received from other clubs.
Mokwena said he had choice to coach other clubs that are already in CAF Champions League but he decided to join Wydad because he saw passion and love they had for him.
Speaking about pressure and criticisms, Mokwena said right now he is currently through bad path because he lacks support, “What I see now, the lack of support and patience, it’s not easy, guys.”
“What I see every week, throwing bottles and stuff, I don’t like it, maybe some people don’t want here for long but that’s ok.”
Rulani Mokwena wasn’t happy last night after the draw, he recalls the time that fans threw bottles at him which caused stress to his grandmother after the pictures and videos went viral,
“My grandmother got sick the day pictures and videos went viral when some fans were throwing bottles at me, said Mokwena.
