Tundu Lissu’s lawyers ask assistance from UN

Tundu Lissu’s Legal team, has submit complaints to United Nations, concerning the ongoing proceeding case about their client and Tanzanian government.

Tundu Lissu is facing treason case, following his political words about inciting violence, convincing people to prevent the upcoming election.

The legal defense of Tundu Lissu, has taken the case to United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, asking for assistance on pushing the government to release the politician.

The UN has no right to intervene on internal matter of its participants, although, it can access the situation by discussing and remind the government to follow constitutions and human rights policies.

Robert Amsterdam, who is presenting Tundu Lissu, has also called for USA to impose bans to Tanzanian officials including policies, with an intent to restore human rights.

This is another step taken by legal team representing Tundu Lissu, just few weeks after European parliament’s amendment of calling for his release and reminding the government to comply with human rights policies.

Tanzanian main political party that is in power, CCM, has highly criticize European parliament from discuss their internal and social affairs.

Some CCM MPs have highly criticizing European parliament, saying that they use Tundu Lissu’s trial to pass their own agenda about LGBTQI+ group.

Speaking about spike number of human rights breach in Tanzania about arrest of opposition politicians, abduction and disappearances of activists like Mdude and others, they answer by reminding international organisations that the country governed by constitution.
