Hugo Broos, the Bafana Bafana coach, is pleased to have a fully fit Percy Tau at camp.
Hugo Broos, the coach of Bafana Bafana, is certain that his squad can defeat Liberia when the two countries square off in a Group K Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Friday at Orlando Stadium.
Percy Tau, one of South Africa’s most dependable performers, is looking sharp and sharp after a troubling stint with Egyptian powerhouses Al Ahly last year.
Tau was expected to perform admirably when he reconnected with Pitso Mosimane at Ahly after leaving Brighton & Hove Albion in 2021. But, a spate of injuries and Mosimane’s departure caused Tau to slip down the pecking order, and as a result, Tau missed Bafana’s fixtures last year.
They include Bafana’s trip to Europe, their 2-1 loss to Morocco in a 2024 Afcon qualification, and recent friendlies against Sierra Leone, Botswana, Mozambique, and Angola.
However, under coach Marcel Koller, Tau is roaring again at Al Ahly. It is a development that’s been welcomed by Broos ahead of the crucial back-to-back qualifiers against Liberia,
