Nineteen arrested for double voting in KwaZulu-Natal
Nineteen citizens are behind the bars for double voting in KwaZulu-Natal as edge of counting votes closer for completion.
Provincial Electoral Commission of SA (IEC) said nineteen people arrested in three KwaZulu-Natal municipalities for double voting.
Up to this time, about 75 percent of total votes has been counted while ANC takes lead for at least 59% followed by DA and EFF.
The arrests were made in Port Shepstone, Hluhluwe and Danhauser, IEC deputy electoral officer Mawethu Mosery said.
It was unclear whether a 20th person had also been arrested, with officials still confirming the latest arrest.
Mosery said police acted swiftly in make arrests at 02:00 on Thursday after investigations began at midnight.
