He has said that they cannot continue to live in exile indefinitely.

“I have lived in exile for more than five years, from the day I was rushed to Nairobi Kenya for emergency treatment, after the assassination attempt against me on September 7, 2017”

He has said that this has been a very long and difficult period in his personal life and as a party and nation.

“At that time I expect to land at Dar es Salaam international airport on an Ethiopian Airlines flight coming from Brussels, Belgium… I will be very happy for any reception you are interested in organizing for me that day” said Lissu.

Lissu said this year will be very important in the history of Tanzania.

“It is a year in which, if we decide with all our heart, we will get a new and democratic constitution with an independent election system that cares and protects the rights of the people and that lays a solid foundation for the accountability of our leaders to the people and their representatives.”

“President Samia and his Party and the government have already publicly promised that they are ready to start that long and difficult journey.”

“We are responsible to answer Mr. President by showing and demonstrating in actions that we too are ready and prepared for that journey, so I am returning home for that journey”. He said Mr. Lissu
