News24 apologized to Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for reporting false story concerning COVID-19 vaccine testing in Africa.

According to the media, a source of this story came from social media post from President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Twitter account about support from the philanthropist Bill Gates for South Africa’s health needs.

Embedded in Ramaphosa’s tweet was an excerpt from an interview by The Daily Show host Trevor Noah with Gates, during which Gates details his support of efforts to fight Covid-19.

Nowhere in the interview does Gates mention testing a vaccine in Africa. In his tweet, Ramaphosa stated the businessman will support South Africa with testing kits and research.

After recognize mistakes, the media took full responsibilities of deleting the article as well made an apology for damage they caused to him and his foundation.

The causality of this matter could totally destroy somebody image on public face, that’s why News24 took the action early to protect their public trust.
