Date:

King Goodwill Zwelithini reportedly died after a month in the hospital fighting against Diabetic, SABC news reported early this morning.

His prime minister, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi spoke on Friday to SABC about the passing of King Zwelithini.

“It is with the utmost grief that I inform the nations of the passing of his Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini ka BhekuZulu, king of Zulu Nation, he said.

“Tragically, while still in the hospital, His majesty’s health took a turn for the worse and he subsequently passed away in the early hours of this morning.

Due to the pandemic, all people will have to follow COVID-19 protocols while attending his burial, Buthelezi spoke on SABC.

“The king’s body will be conveyed to the palace, hopefully this afternoon [Friday]. We hope he will lie in state for a few days so anyone in the nation who wants to pay their respects can do so.

“I must warn that this happened at a most difficult time because of Covid-19, so we should observe all the protocols. I know our people are devastated, as much as the royal family is devastated, but sadly one must remind the nation that we are bound to observe the protocols for Covid-19,” said Buthelezi.

King Zwelithini will be remembered for his longest leadership under Zulu nation since he reigned in 1968 when he was just 20-year-old.

Last month, he was hospitalized in an undisclosed hospital in Zululand, remaining ICU till his death for diabetic and glucose level monitor.
