Kenya: A man is jailed for 50 years for sealing his wife’s private part with glue
A man who attacked his wife in Meru county in May 2020 has been sentenced to 50 years in prison.
The Chuka court found James Kifo Muriuki guilty of abusing his wife by impersonating her and seriously injuring her. He was also found guilty of covering his private parts with super glue.
In June, Muriuki had denied all charges leveled against him which included sexual harassment, attempted murder, committing an indecent offense and committing crimes against his wife.
However, on Saturday Chief Justice Njoki Kahara of the Chuka Law Court ruled that Muriuki was guilty of sexually abusing his wife and causing her great harm.
Earlier it was reported that Muriuki attacked his wife after returning home to Tharaka Nithi from Nairobi where he was working. It was claimed that he had ordered her to strip and tell all the men she slept with while he was away.
He then hit her and used a knife to push a mixture of pepper, salt and super glue into her private part.
It was reported that he covered her mouth and ears and left her to die.
Muriuki was arrested for the offense a few days later and was detained at Embu GK Prison awaiting trial.
