R&B star Ne-Yo has confirmed that he and his wife Crystal Smith are divorcing after four years of marriage together.
He announced the news during the most recent episode of the Private Talk with Alexis Texas podcast.
‘It’s slowly but surely becoming public knowledge that myself and my wife have decided to go ahead and get a divorce,’ Ne-Yo revealed to the adult film star-turned-podcaster.
He continued: ‘It’s not a sad thing, it’s more of a us realizing- long story short, I’m never gonna talk bad about her. I’m not that person. There’s nothing bad to say about her.’
Ne-Yo whose real name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, said they’re both decided to end their romance after hard times on their marriage.
‘We realize that our demons don’t mesh and until both of us get a hold of our personal demons, it’s gonna be just difficult for us to stay married,’ said Ne-Yo.
‘With that being said, that’s that, that’s the end of that chapter, not the end of the book. Like I said, that’s the mother of my kids and I love her to death. We’re going to be family forever.’
The “so sick” hit maker married Crystal in February of 2016. They’d give birth to their first son Shaffer, three, a month after their nuptials.
In 2018, Ne-Yo and his 34-year-old wife welcomed their second son Roman, who is now just under the age of two.
Ne-Yo has two children, daughter Madilyn, nine, and son Mason, eight, from his previous relationship with actress Monyetta Shaw.
Crystal has not yet made her comment on their break-up, but rumours surfaced after a clip of her with another star circulated on social media last week.
