Durban multi-millionaire Moses Tembe’s identify has been on many South African’s lips due to the fact that the brutal homicide of musician Kiernan “AKA” Forbes on Friday, 10 February.
The rapper used to be shot and killed alongside with his pal and movie star chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane outdoor Wish Restaurant on Florida Road in Durban.
Following the Lemons (Lemonade) hitmaker’s death, Tembe was suspected by fans to have ordered the hit.
This is because the rapper was with his late daughter — Anele “Nelli” Tembe — who fell to her death from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel on Loop street in Cape Town on 11 April 2021.
AKA and Nelli were engaged to be married when she allegedly committed suicide — something that her father disputed at her funeral, saying his daughter was not suicidal.
In addition, weeks after her passing, AKA was accused of physically abusing her during their relationship.
With ongoing rumours about Tembe’s involvement in AKA’s tragic death — as fans believe the businessman used his wealth, power and connections to “avenge” his daughter’s death — many have been wondering just how rich the Durban businessman is.

According to Facty News, Tembe’s net worth is estimated at $30 million to $45 million (about R540 million to R808 million).
Briefly reports that the wealthy entrepreneur owns Moses Tembe Investments (PTY) Ltd, which makes an estimated annual revenue of $2.45 million (about R44 million).
The publication reports that he also sits on the board of companies across different sectors, including Mazibuye Holdings as director, Phumelela Gaming as deputy chair, Durban International Conference Centre as director and KZN Growth Coalition and Economic Council as co-chairman.
NELLI’S FATHER DENIES ORDERING HIT ON AKA
Despite all the claims about Tembe’s involvement in AKA’s assassination, he has denied the rumours.
He told Sunday Times: “Anyone who truly knows me and our family would not spread such rumours. We’ve never judged Kiernan. We demonstrated our love for him to the very last day.”
The 60-year-old businessman also shared that he sent AKA’s parents — Lynn and Tony Forbes — his condolences and they responded with gratitude.
Tembe described AKA as an “extraordinarily talented musician.”
“His music contributed meaningfully to South Africa’s rich musical tapestry. We extend our condolences to his extended family and his fans.
“We’re so saddened by this sad eventuality as it robs us of the opportunity that we’ve been waiting for so patiently to vindicate our daughter in court or in an inquest,” he said.
