El Chapo’s wife, Emma Coronel Aispuro, was arrested in US accused of international drug trafficking and helping his prison escape in 2015.
According to TMZ, El Chapo’s wife was arrested on Monday at Dulles International Airport, and is facing a charge of participating in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana for importation to the U.S.
According to allegations, she conspired with others to help El Chapo make his July 11, 2015 prison escape in Mexico, and tried to help him do it again after he was recaptured.
oaquin “El Chapo” Guzman — leader of Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel, was extradited to the U.S. in January 2017. He was sentenced to life in prison in July 2019.
