According to Variety, the 46-year-old will play Clea, a sorcerer from the Dark Dimension. In the comics, she has a complicated history with Dormammu, the overlord and Clea and Strange have an inter-dimensional marriage.

Digital Spy reports that the character was first rumoured to be joining the sequel in 2019, but Theron’s casting was kept secret.
In an interview with Variety in 2020, the Monster actor said Disney and Marvel never approached her to join the MCU.
“I swear to God. I’ve never gotten anything. No, I’m not lying to you. But that’s okay. You know what? I am paving my own way. I’m creating my own opportunities. So, it’s alright,” she said during an episode of the Variety and iHeart podcast The Big Ticket.
