Arsenal are confident to finish top four this season

Granit Xhaka insists Arsenal will finish top four this season on premier league standing following 14 unbeaten games this season so far.

Arsenal have won eight points from losing positions this season which is more than any other team in the Premier League and Xhaka praised the impact that Unai Emery has had on the whole squad.

Swiss midfielder Xhaka said: “We knew we would not lose this game because we were so good and we showed character again. “If you see this game, you can see we are ready for the top four.

“A lot of small things have changed in the last weeks and month. We have great character. If you are 1-0 down for example against Liverpool, we come back and it’s not the first time.

“The coach prepared us very well. Each game we know what we do. We know well the opposition, where they are good and where they are not. It’s not always easy to come back at 1-0 but as I said we showed great character.

“Last season we know it was not the best year of Arsenal, of the players. But I don’t want to speak about last year, I want to speak about now. We are now 14 games unbeaten and we must stay like that and improve small things.

“Of course, he (Emery) is important. He helps us – not only me but all the players with the small things. Tactical things. You can see that on the pitch. He is always on the pitch with us, moving us into the right position. I like that as well.”

Xhaka believes he’s playing some of the best football of his three years at Arsenal and his partnership with Lucas Torreira is reaping rich rewards.

Xhaka added: “You can see each game we improve more and more and more. Every game is better and better. He (Torreira) is so important for this team. He has very good eyes on the pitch. He knows when to go and when to stay. He brings good balance between offence and defence.

“I think we can be happy with our performance. We know Liverpool have a good team but we gave everything and we showed a great game. In my opinion we were the better team.

“Liverpool in the first half had chances but we were a bit unlucky.”
