TZ Police responds to Agather and Boniface’s sexual assault accusation

DSM Police commander Muliro has responded to sexual assault accusations made by Agather Atuhaire and Boniface Mwangi.

Agather and Boniface were detained by TZ Police shortly after their arrival to follow the proceeding of Tundu Lissu’s treason trial.

According to their stories, both were brutally beaten, harassed and sexually abused before deported by Tanzanian authority.

BBC approached ACP Muliro, he responded by saying that if the two activists were abused like what they said, then they should report it and open case to a responsible authority.

Muliro said the accusations made by two activists are just their opinions and thoughts, if it was a fact then they must already take the case at responsible authority.

Agather was found near Tanzania and Uganda border, she said that she was brutally beaten, push repeatedly a stick in her backside before being deported.

Boniface Mwangi also spoke story with likely relating treatment, he said he was brutally beaten, then they lubricants and sexually assaulted.

He said, “They told me to strip naked, tied me upside down, put lubricant in my rectum and started inserting objects in my backside.”
